Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) put its Package Power Station(PPS) and large-size electric transformer in the list of ’’World-class Product’’ awarded by Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy. PPS has all the facilities in a 40 feet container and is easy to install and move. It operates power generator, fueled by both of heavy and light oil, with diesel engine, developed by HHI’s in-house technology. HHI is the sole producer of PPS and exports 18.8 million dollars, recording 100% of world’s market share. HHI targets 20 million dollars of PPS export in five years. The large-size electric transformer transfers electrical energy from power plant and substation to customer with an increase or decrease in voltage of over 200~400kv, 150 MVA class. HHI takes 14.4% of world’s market share and is the world’s 5th company following ABB of Switzerland and Siemens of Germany. HHI produced 83 million dollars of transformer including 71 million dollars of export. It plans to double its capacity and increase market share to 20%. Including this year’s products, HHI is the largest recipient of the award in the industry with a total of 11 products selected as ‘World-Class Product’ over six consecutive years. HHI first received the World-Class Product recognition in 2001 for its ships (tankers, containership and bulk carrier). The company went on to receive the award in 2002 for its large marine diesel engine and LNG carrier; in 2003 for its excavator and crankshaft; in 2004 for the synchronous generator for marine application, 4-stroke diesel engine and marine propeller; and in 2005 for the floating, production storage and offshore(FPSO) unit. Since 2001, with the support of Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy to promote the nation’s export, the World-Class Product award is given to companies that rank within the top five in the world’s market share, rank as first in overseas export record or exceed 30% of the total exports volume in the same category. Based on this certification, Korea’s Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy supports both domestic and international marketing activities.
